Releasing one’s inner rock chick

So festival season may well be over, but that doesn’t mean we girls have to ditch our inner rock chicks just yet. With this season’s catwalks brimming with zips, rips and super-high hair riffs, it’s time to turn up the Madonna and party like it’s 1985… all over again.

rockchickI don’t know about you, but I’m a real girly girl at heart. I’m more driven to frills and bows and bubble hems than I am mohair and leather. It therefore comes as little surprise that I’ve only just learnt to let go and discover my inner rock chick, and that’s lame, I know.

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to experiment with my alternative side by attending this event – an inner-city street party slash miniature carnival, with plenty of Strongbow, music, face-painting and more Strongbow. Naturally, I couldn’t resist putting a little effort into my wardrobe choices that morning.

… So what did I choose, you wonder? Well, maybe it wasn’t quite Agyness Dean or Alexa Chung, but it was certainly a more alternative take on my usual style, that’s for sure.
With the weather promising highs of 23+ degrees, I opted for a sleek black pencil skirt, courtesy of Dotty P’s, with a grey “vampire lips” embellished tee courtesy of H+M. Then, to top it off, I added my favourite Primark studded black patent pumps, a slick of red lipstick and some Primark snakeskin-printed sunnies. Marvelllllous!

So ladies, to conclude: Rock chic is definitely the way to go this winter. Get untaming those riffs and quiffs, get donning those biker jackets, and for goodness sake, don’t let anyone hear you mellowing out to rhythm ‘n’ blues!

Stay tuned for more news on releasing your inner rock chick!
